The Department of Biochemistry discovers and transfers new knowledge about the molecular basis of life through basic biomolecular science, research and cross-disciplinary knowledge transfer and trainings. The department has a strong belief in quality teaching, productive research, creativity and maintaining a collegial environment. Moreover, the department is committed to emphasize on scientific learning, critical thinking, problem solving skills, self-realization and entrepreneurship. In addition we are striving to provide opportunities for our undergraduate students to excel in future endeavors including, research, industry, professional teaching, disease diagnosis, food, medicine and pharmacy.

Department of Biological Sciences provides a unique opportunity to the students for studying all the aspects of modern biology. It emphasis research using various molecular biology, biochemistry, botany, and zoology-related techniques to give solutions for the complex human and animal disorders, agriculture, economic and industrial problems by focusing on life science and emerging technologies. The program provides an opportunity to tailor coursework and research work to fit the career goals of individual students. Our graduates are well-equipped to tap the vast opportunities available in academia, industry and research domains. The curricula for the degree program are designed to prepare manpower, needed for the economic development of the country.

Department of Biotechnology is one of the leading departments in the Faculty of Sciences with an extensive number of career opportunities in the modern world. The department of Biotechnology has a state-of-the-art laboratory in the region that is fully equipped with all required and latest equipment to support the BS and MS programs. Biotechnology is the combination of biology with any emerging technology to resolve the social problems in the areas of disease diagnosis and treatment, agriculture, climate change and environment, industrial product improvement, food sector and quality enhancement, forensic science, bioinformatics, data science, bio-entrepreneurship and many other relevant areas of life sciences. Currently, more than 350 students are enrolled in the department and the demand for this emerging area of biology is rapidly increasing Worldwide. The research programs of the department are based on recent developments at the frontiers of knowledge.

The Department of Chemistry of USKT aspires to excel in modern trends of Chemistry, research and services. To develop mathematical curiosity in students and urge them to use inductive and deductive reasoning while solving problems. It increases confidence in students to use Mathematics in order to analyze and solve problems both in the field of education as well as in real-life situations. We are in a mission to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to pursue further studies in Mathematics at the same time we are providing courses, mentoring, participation in research projects and other activities for student’s interest and to chase graduate studies in Mathematics. Mission of the department of Mathematics is to Build and enhance computational skills necessary in today’s society and develop the student’s ability to critically interpret numerical and graphical data. Develop the student’s ability to intelligently communicate mathematical results in both written and oral format.

The BS and MS program at the department of physics is highly focused to inculcate the sense for search and research starting at very basic level. This journey starts from the study of matter and energy and then uplifting the knowledge to advance level like quantum mechanical phenomenon, Integrated circuits, nanomaterials etc. Study of recent scientific research of applied nature is also a part of our curriculum, enabling the student to think and rethink about the application-based research. So, the job scope for students after studying Physics is in research labs, educational institutes, medicine, oncology, industry etc. Recent trends in science and specially in physics focus on interdisciplinary research. So, we are committed to impart knowledge in physics of pure and interdisciplinary nature too. Beauty of knowledge lies in the understanding of basics and advanced level ideas through various activities; therefore, Royal Society of Physics was established. Basically, it is a forum for students which organises various academic and non-academic activities to improve the interpersonal skills, communication skills, confidence along with updating knowledge in physics. The Department of Zoology strives for quality education in Zoology and excellence in animal sciences by delivering basic and applied knowledge. Our undergraduate program provides comprehension of the anatomy, genetics, physiology, systematics, ecology, behavior and conservation of terrestrial and aquatic animals. Our postgraduate program is concerned with maintaining high level of scientific excellence in zoological research. The department of Zoology aims to involve in community-based and outreach activities. Ultimately, our mission is to make our students employable.
