BS Mathematics

Department of Mathematics is one of the primary departments in the faculty of Science, University of Sialkot

Introduction

Its initial setup was laid down in 2014, when university opened its gate for students to learn and grow. Department of Mathematics offers its services for undergraduate and master degree programs in Mathematics and has more than 150 students in the department. The curricula for the degree program are designed to prepare manpower needed for the economic development of the country. In future, University of Sialkot is going to launch MS/MPhil Mathematics degree program to broaden the spectrum of Mathematics department of University of Sialkot in the region. The research programs of the department are based on recent developments at the frontiers of knowledge.

Eligibility Criteria

12 years of education (Intermediate or equivalent) with at least 45% marks
in case of O/A Levels
equivalence from IBCC shall be required.

Duration

The minimum Duration to complete this program is 4 years, while the maximum Duration to complete this program is 6 years.

Credit Hours

The minimum credit hours to complete this program is 124 hours, while the maximum credit hours to complete this program is 140 hours.

Moreover, with the increasing importance of basic science and information technology, prospects for careers in the mathematical sciences are very good. Mathematical analysis and computational modeling are important for solving some of the most pressing problems of our time - new energy resources, climate change, risk management, epidemiology, to name a few. We must strive to maintain our technological edge; mathematical skills will be crucial to this effort.
