The Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) of the University of Sialkot, organized an awareness session on "Climate Change Adaptability, Financing, and Creating Indigenous Solutions". There was support from the Event Management Society, Environmental Society, Dramatics Society and the Science and Technology Society of the university. The guest speakers at the event were experts in the field of environmental conservation. They included Mr. Adeel Younas, Manager of the Freshwater Programme at WWF-Pakistan, Eng. Sajid Mehmood, Deputy Director of the Saaf Paani Project, Ms. Muqadas Shehzadi, Environment Sustainability Manager from Alitradingco Industries, and Dr. Aqeel Afzal, from the Institute of Energy and Environment. The speakers discussed environmental challenges such as pollution and the high levels of smog in cities like Lahore. They shared solutions for fighting climate change and presented solutions. The event had a skit performance by the dramatic society students, that showed the harmful effects of environmental pollution. Students also showed their talents through a poster and model-making competition and certificates were awarded to the most creative and unique designs. The worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Meritorious) Dr. Muhammad Khaleeq Ur Rahman, gave a talk, where he focused on the importance of fighting against environmental pollution at home first and called on to take small steps in the communities, as these efforts could prevent severe health issues linked to environmental damage. He also urged the youth to lead by example, spreading awareness. The event concluded with the presentation of souvenirs to the guest speakers and a group photo.
