University of Sialkot Hosts Anti-Narcotics Awareness Seminar for Youth 🎓🚫

The University of Sialkot successfully organized an Anti-Narcotics Awareness Seminar in collaboration with the Punjab Counter Narcotics Force to educate students about the dangers of drug abuse and encourage collective responsibility in building a drug-free society. 

 

Distinguished guests Major General, Sajid Amin Awan, (GOC 15 Division Sialkot), Brigadier, Mazhar Iqbal (Director General, Counter Narcotics Force Punjab), and Ms. Saba Asghar Ali, (Deputy Commissioner Sialkot) were warmly received by the Chairman Board of Governors Mr. Faisal Manzoor and the Vice Chancellor Prof. (Meritorious) Dr. Muhammad Khaleeq Ur Rahman. Afterward, they interacted with Heads of Departments, Deans, and senior faculty members before proceeding to the auditorium for the seminar.

 

The event formally commenced with welcoming remarks on behalf of the Chairman Board of Governors by the Vice Chancellor Prof. (Meritorious) Dr. Muhammad Khaleeq Ur Rahman, who warmly welcomed the distinguished guests and appreciated their efforts in raising awareness among youth. In his remarks, he highlighted the important role of educational institutions in promoting responsible citizenship, awareness, and healthy lifestyles among students. Further, He emphasized that universities must play a proactive role in guiding youth away from social challenges such as drug abuse. He also encouraged students to become ambassadors of awareness and contribute positively to society.

 

During the seminar, Brigadier Mazhar Iqbal briefed the audience on CNF’s operational framework, preventive strategies, and legal provisions under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act 1997. He highlighted the severe health, academic, and social consequences of drug abuse and shared important statistics demonstrating the seriousness of the issue and the efforts being made to combat it.

 

The seminar further highlighted the psychological, social, academic, and health-related consequences of narcotics use while emphasizing preventive strategies for youth. Students were encouraged to act as ambassadors of awareness within their families, educational institutions, and communities. He also emphasized the importance of community vigilance regarding drug-related activities, urging everyone to promptly report any suspicious incidents to help ensure the betterment of society. Ms. Saba Asghar Ali emphasized the importance of governance, law enforcement, parental guidance, and responsible media, while Major General Sajid Amin encouraged healthy lifestyles, sports, and constructive activities for young people.

 

Faculty members and students from various colleges in Sialkot, including Murray College and Government College, also participated in the seminar, making the session more engaging and collaborative.

An interactive Q&A session was also held, where students and participants asked questions and the experts provided detailed responses.

 

The event concluded with shields presented to the distinguished guests by the Chairman Board of Governors and the Vice Chancellor as a token of appreciation. The seminar reaffirmed the importance of a collaborative approach involving educational institutions, civil administration, armed forces, parents, and youth to effectively combat narcotics and build a healthier society.
