Kashmir Activist Visits USKT

The University of Sialkot welcomed Ms. Mushaal Hussein Mullick, a Kashmiri leader, Chairperson of the Peace and Culture Organisation and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan for Human Rights and Women Empowerment (2023-24). She was accompanied by her sister Ms. Sabeen and Mr. Zafar Iqbal from Islamabad. They were received by the Honorable Chairman Board of Governors, Mr. Faisal Manzoor, and the worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Meritorious) Dr. Muhammad Khaleeq Ur Rahman.
She held a meeting with the Chairman BOG and Vice Chancellor to discuss future initiatives for highlighting the Kashmir cause and then visited the Iqbal Corner, where she reflected on Allama Iqbal’s ideology and how it continues to inspire her struggle for justice.
At the auditorium, the worthy Vice Chancellor formally welcomed Ms. Mushaal Mullick on behalf of the Chairman BOG and expressed his deep respect for her efforts. He said it was a moment of honor and privilege for him to invite a leader to USKT, who has dedicated her life to fighting for Kashmir’s freedom. He appreciated her courage and acknowledged her sacrifices for the cause, especially the fight for the release of her husband, Kashmiri leader Mr. Yaseen Malik.The Vice Chancellor also assured Pakistan’s commitment to Kashmir, stating that the country feels incomplete without Kashmir and emphasized that it is not just a land but a part of Pakistan’s heart and soul. He also expressed hope that, one day Kashmiris will achieve their right to self-determination and freedom.
Before the guest speaker’s address, the audience watched a tribute to Kashmir through a video song performed by an artist from Occupied Jammu & Kashmir. During her speech, Ms. Mushaal Mullick repeatedly spoke about Iqbal’s ideology, which continues to be a guiding force in the Kashmir freedom movement. She highlighted the sacrifices of her husband, who has been imprisoned for raising his voice for the people of Kashmir.
She talked about the crimes committed by the Modi-led Indian government and questioned the silence of the world on the human rights violations and curfews of Kashmiri leadership. She stressed that Kashmir is not just a political issue but a humanitarian crisis that the Pakistani and global community cannot ignore. She also explained the deep connection between Kashmir and Pakistan, stating that the rivers flowing from Kashmir bring life to Pakistan. She urged Pakistani youth to bring a purpose in their lives, understand their responsibility in keeping the Kashmir cause alive and to use their voices for justice.
Following her talk, she then engaged in an interactive question and answer session with students, answering their queries about the current situation in Kashmir and how young people can contribute to the movement. At the end, the Honorable Chairman BOG thanked Ms. Mushaal Mullick for her visit and announced the establishment of the "Kashmir Society" at USKT. This society will organize monthly activities to engage students and spread awareness about Kashmir’s struggle for freedom.
The Vice Chancellor also assured his full institutional support for raising awareness about Kashmir and keeping the movement alive at every level. A special dua session was held for Ms. Mushaal’s late mother and all the martyrs of the Kashmir freedom movement. To honor her advocacy and sacrifices, a souvenir was presented as a sign of appreciation.
