Dr. Sabeen Javaid is an academic, researcher, and technology leader passionate about using artificial intelligence and emerging technologies to solve real-world problems. She holds a Ph.D. in Software Engineering from the National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST), Islamabad, and has over 12 years of experience in higher education, research, technology management, and institutional development.
Currently serving as Director of the Management Information Systems Directorate (MISD) and IT Services, as well as Head of the Software Engineering Department at the University of Sialkot, Dr. Sabeen works at the intersection of research, technology, and education. Her work focuses on strengthening digital infrastructure, advancing technology-driven initiatives, fostering industry collaboration, and creating opportunities for students and researchers to engage with emerging technologies.
Her research interests include artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, software engineering, and intelligent healthcare systems. With 37 publications, 654 citations, and an i10-index of 16, she has contributed to research exploring how intelligent computational techniques can address practical challenges. Her recent work includes applying intelligent techniques to drinking water quality prediction and Parkinson's disease prediction, reflecting her interest in developing data-driven approaches to environmental and healthcare problems.
Dr. Sabeen is particularly interested in the potential of AI agents to transform scientific research. She sees opportunities to use agentic AI to support literature reviews, facilitate data analysis, accelerate experimentation, and make complex research workflows more efficient and accessible. She is keen to explore how emerging AI tools can help researchers move from research questions to meaningful insights while maintaining scientific rigor and human oversight.
Beyond academia, Dr. Sabeen is actively involved in technology-driven institutional development and innovation initiatives in Sialkot. Through her work at the University of Sialkot and her involvement in initiatives related to Sialkot Technology Park, she is interested in strengthening connections between academia, industry, entrepreneurs, and technology professionals. Her broader vision is to help create an environment where research, artificial intelligence, and practical innovation contribute to industrial development, entrepreneurship, and locally relevant technological solutions.
She has also contributed to technical skills development and industry-oriented education through her previous leadership of NAVTTC and PSDA training initiatives at the university. Her collaboration with software houses and IT companies reflects her commitment to bridging the gap between academic learning and industry requirements. As an active IEEE member and former Branch Counselor of the IEEE Student Branch, she has also encouraged students to explore engineering, research, and innovation.
Having received fully funded scholarships for both her MS and Ph.D. studies at NUST, Dr. Sabeen values accessible education, continuous learning, and research collaboration. She is motivated by the opportunity to explore emerging AI capabilities, contribute to meaningful scientific research, and help build a stronger research and innovation ecosystem in Pakistan.
