The Physics Department at the University of Sialkot intends to offer a Graduate program in Physics, currently in three main specializations: Material Sciences, Radiation Physics, and Theoretical Physics. Physics graduates are preferred in many other sectors due to their skills in analytical analysis. Globally, physicists play an important role in the design and development of prototype products to be handed over to industry for production on a large scale.
They also have an opportunity to apply theoretical foundation in a real-world setting.
PEO-1: MS Physics (PEO's): To educate future generation of physicists by teaching different methods of exploration, investigation, organization of data and its utilization in practical life.
PEO-2: MS Physics (PEO's): To develop the scientific culture and demonstrate professional skills in teaching, research as well as in managerial position in wide range of positions in national and international organizations.
PEO-3: MS Physics (PEO's): To engage in research activities in the field of physics to get specialization on novel and emerging technologies of multidisciplinary fields.
PEO-4: MS Physics (PEO's): To equip students with knowledge and skills for better planning and management of interdisciplinary research in the country.
PEO-5: MS Physics (PEO's): To produce graduates having strong analytical skills and practical experience in problem solving in a range of physics subjects.
PLO-1: MS Physics (PLO's): Adept in problem solving skills in classical physics, quantum physics, electrodynamics, and statistical physics at a level commensurate with current standards in physics.
PLO-2: MS Physics (PLO's): Proficient in demonstrating basic skills in their areas of research by displaying depth of knowledge and fully abreast with the newest development in their area of interest.
PLO-3: MS Physics (PLO's): Flexible to conduct research outside of their area by demonstrating breadth of knowledge.
PLO-4: MS Physics (PLO's): Capable of comprehension of the primary research literature in their area of interest and are fully aware of the national and international groups/labs conducting the relevant research.
PLO-5: MS Physics (PLO's): Expert in applying theoretical and/or experimental research tools, as appropriate, to make progress in expanding the frontiers of physics knowledge.
PLO-6: MS Physics (PLO's): Skilled in scientific and technical writing and should have impressive communication skills to present effectively the outcomes of their research to professionals within their field through both oral and written work.
PLO-7: MS Physics (PLO's): Able to carry out independent research and to handle projects by displaying professional experimental skills in their area of research .
The minimum credit hours to complete this program are 30 hours, while the maximum are 36 hours.
The minimum Duration to complete this program are 2 years, while the maximum are 3 years.
Graduating students can seek jobs in colleges, institution of higher learning (Universities) ministries, research institution such as PICRET, national R&D organization like PNRA, KRL, NESCOM, PAEC and its constitution institute like PINSTECH, KANUP, PIEAS, NELOP etc. Physics graduate are preferred in many other sectors due to their skills for analytical analysis. Globally, physicist play important role in design and development of prototype products to be handed over to industry for production at large scale.
