Mathematics is a universal part of human culture. It is a tool, language of commerce, engineering and other sciences – physics, computing, biology etc. It helps us to recognize patterns and to understand the world around us. Mathematics plays a vital, often unseen, role in many aspects of modern life, for example: Space travel, Safeguarding credit card details on the internet, modeling the spread of epidemics, Predicting stock market prices and Business decision making. Mathematics Careers are for example, Computing, Baking, Accountancy, Engineering, Math teacher/lecturer, Statistician, Actuary/Insurance, Operational Researcher, Postgraduate Study and other carriers like sales / HR / administration. The study of mathematics can lead to a variety of exciting professional careers. Basic research, engineering, finance, business, and government service are among the opportunities open to those with mathematical training. Moreover, with the increasing importance of basic science and information technology, prospects for careers in the mathematical sciences are very good. Mathematical analysis and computational modeling are important for solving some of the most pressing problems of our time - new energy resources, climate change, risk management, epidemiology, to name a few. We must strive to maintain our technological edge; mathematical skills will be crucial to this effort.
The best yardstick for our progress is not other people, but Ourselves
